An error occurred while attempting to connect to your blog

I’m getting this error when trying to set up an account on live writer.

-An error occurred while attempting to connect to your blog:

Network Connection Error – Error attempting to connect to blog at:

http://site/metapost.ashx?key=text/html

Found: Found

You must correct this error before proceeding.-

Has anyone have any idea what’s the problem here? I try uninstalling and reinstalling. But nothing, when I go to see what providers are available under the mestapost administration there’s none there.

Please help I’ve been trying to fix this for two days now.

Re: An error occurred while attempting to connect to your blog

Hi Stendor,

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you're having with the installation of metaPost.  I'll certainly do anything I can to help.  I haven't seen this particular error before, but I"m sure we'll get it figured out.

Regarding the visibility of the providers, they are not visible until you've requested a module during the account setup process.  Another way to say this is that the providers show up in metaPost after they are first requested through the account creation process in Windows Live Writer.  We've written the metaPost infrastructure so that the modules are detected at runtime.  The advantage of this design is that you can add third party modules which support the metaPost publishing interfaces and metaPost will pick them up automatically.  No configuration is necessary.

All that to say, the providers will show up as they are used.

Based on the example you gave above, I would have guessed that at least the text/html provider would show up in the list.  The only other thing I would check is to make sure that the portalalias for the portal you're connecting to matches the portal you used in the posting URL above.  If you include www in your portal alias, you'll need to include it in the posting URL.

One last thing I notice about the posting URL that you've posted is that it's missing a sid parameter to allow you to pick up the styles.  See the documentation (In the resources zip file and under a folder called documentation) for more information about configuring the text/html module.

Also, please don't hesitate to call or send me an email.  My contact information is on the Contact Us page and my email is don at itcrossing.com.

Thanks for using metaPost!

Don

Re: An error occurred while attempting to connect to your blog

Don,

Thanks for your fast response again. I already try what you suggested, I’m doing this on an intranet environment, I tested the module on a test environment and it worked fine, I’m thinking its a problem on the server; so please don’t waste anymore of  your time trying to figure this one out. I really appreciate the excellent customer service you provide.

Thanks

Re: An error occurred while attempting to connect to your blog

Don,

I found where my problem is and its related with the AD Provider, I went to http://dnn.itcrossing.com/support-forums/forumid/5/threadid/83/scope/posts/threadpage/6/ where you already have a solution for this issue, but installing the provider that you provided doesn’t fix the problem I don’t know if it’s because of the new version of Live writer (also I’m on DNN 4.9.1), because if I use word 2007 it works even before I try the solutions suggested on the forum.

Re: An error occurred while attempting to connect to your blog

Thanks for the update, Stendor.  If this site is accessible, I'm happy to troubleshoot from my side.  I would just need an account created with the proper permissions to create a post from WLW.

Thanks,

Don
